CAMERON MCKENNA, CANNON PLACE, LONDON
HELPING CMS LOOK BEYOND THE OBVIOUS
CMS wanted to create a radical departure from the traditional role of receptionist and reception area, to a “meet and greet” concierge approach. From the moment of arrival at CMS the focus is on the client and their experience.
This new business lounge concept differentiates the CMS offer in a crowded legal market, and supports their wider strategy of global expansion.
In addition, the large column-free floor plate at Cannon Place has enabled CMS to develop a new design ethos for its main CMS London headquarters. The open plan, studio-styled work areas replace a traditional cellular office environment, with the space designed to promote collaboration, innovation and staff cohesion. Equally impressive is a reception area with a café, staff restaurant, client-facing meeting rooms and dining space featuring bespoke furnishings.
To help support the overall brief, Mega Glass was tasked to support the architect and design teams by creating a feature wall to the office and hub areas. The client wanted something special that would create unique presence whilst creating the feeling of infinity.
Scope of Work:
To create a unique reception area space to a City of London law firm head office through use of mirrored glass. Also to provide functional items throughout the building including magnetic white boards, colourful tea points and mirrors.
To translate the architect’s conceptual idea for an infinity mirror wall and take it through design, testing, manufacture and install to bring the vision to life.
Template, manufacture and install glass and mirrors throughout the building, working alongside other trades during the tight timeline refurbishment programme.
Significant experimentation was carried out in the iGlass technology centre to identify a way of creating the back-lit infinity wall. The end result was a combination of LED lighting installed into a void, fronted by extra clear sandblasted mirror, interspersed with a void of specific dimension over which a specialist spy mirror provided the window to the entire effect.
A full size mock-up panel was provided to the client team for inspection and approval and importantly to ensure it met the architect’s vision. Once signed off, Mega Glass templated and produced over 50m2 of panels that were installed in the business lounge of the offices behind the relaxation area.
All other glass was also fitted by the Mega Glass in-house fitting team.
A business lounge with a unique mirrored infinity wall that creates a wow factor for all clients and employees at CMS.
